Poland enforces helmet rule for under‑16 electric scooter riders

Effective 3 June 2026, Poland requires anyone under 16 who operates an electric scooter to wear a protective helmet. The regulation also covers riders under 16 on bicycles, e‑bikes and other personal transport devices, aiming to lower serious head injuries as scooter use rises during the summer months.

Authorities stress that helmets must be properly sized and fastened, and that parents should closely supervise young riders. While helmets are not mandatory for those 16 and older, officials recommend their use. Riders are also urged to keep scooters in good technical condition, obey traffic rules, use required lights and brakes, and park responsibly to avoid obstructing pedestrians.
