Poland expands Białystok kindergarten capacity and adds civil‑defence shelters in Busko‑Zdrój

The city of Białystok signed an agreement on 10 July to expand its Municipal Kindergarten No 47 on Św. Wojciecha street. The project, financed with almost 2 million zł of EU funds from the “Invest in Education” programme and more than 2 million zł of city co‑financing, will add a two‑storey wing, increase the number of places by 50 to a total of 175, and improve accessibility with lifts, ramps and adapted toilets. A parallel thermal‑modernisation, also supported by EU funding exceeding 1 million zł, will upgrade insulation, windows and heating systems.

In Busko‑Zdrój, municipal authorities plan two temporary civil‑defence shelters in the basements of the public library and Kindergarten No 3. The shelters, intended to accommodate from several dozen up to over a hundred people, aim to meet obligations under the law on civil protection. Longer‑term plans discuss a larger dual‑use facility at the city stadium, capable of sheltering about 1,500 people, contingent on future state funding.
