Poland expands farm subsidy deadlines and adds higher payments for peatland protection

Polish authorities have revised the Agricultural Protection Fund rules, allowing farmers and producer groups to submit compensation claims twice a year. New filing windows run from 1 February to 31 March and from 1 July to 31 August, with payouts due by 30 June and 30 November respectively. The amendment, effective 13 May 2026, also caps group compensation at €300,000 over three years and removes a previous penalty for failing to declare fund contributions.

Separately, the Ministry of Agriculture announced that, until 1 June, farmers managing land classified under GAEC 2 – peatlands and other wetlands – can apply for an additional payment of 2 387 zł per hectare. This amount applies to the third variant of the environmental‑climatic intervention, which supports the conversion of arable land to permanent green uses for a five‑year commitment. The scheme aims to offset costs of protecting peatlands and wetlands while maintaining agricultural activity.
