Poland expands free cervical and breast cancer screenings

The National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia) is offering free cervical cancer screening to women aged 25‑64 in the Lublin region. Eligible women can obtain an HPV HR test without a referral through the Internet Patient Account or the myIKP app. Early detection of high‑risk HPV types aims to reduce the roughly 1,400 annual deaths from cervical cancer in Poland.

In parallel, mobile mammography units (Mammobusy) will visit nine locations in Bochnia County in early August, providing free breast‑cancer screening to women aged 45‑74 who have not been screened in the past two years. Appointments are made by phone or via the e‑registration system, and the quality of the mobile examinations matches that of stationary clinics. Positive findings lead to further diagnostic procedures such as additional mammograms, ultrasounds or biopsies.
