Poland expands free preventive health services for children and residents
The Gmina Goczałkowice‑Zdrój organized a community health fair called “Miasteczko Zdrowia” where residents could receive free medical examinations, including blood tests for cancer markers, spirometry, and BMI measurements. The event, promoted by wójt Gabriela Placha, required prior registration and was limited to inhabitants of the municipality.
Separately, a nationwide summer dental program called “Próchnica nie jedzie na wakacje” provided free dental check‑ups and treatment for children. By the end of July, about 25,000 children had used the service, which will continue through the end of summer. The initiative, run by the “Agentów Uśmiechu” clinics and supported by local authorities, will be followed by a pilot school oral‑health point scheme and a broader campaign “Zdrowy uśmiech dziecka – wspólna sprawa”. Łukasz Kowalski, president of Star Dental Group, highlighted the importance of maintaining preventive care outside the school year.
