Poland expands solar subsidies while regulator fines oversized PV systems

Poland has introduced three distinct financial mechanisms to support residential photovoltaic installations. The NFOŚiGW grant provides a non‑repayable subsidy of up to 28,000 zł for 2–20 kW PV systems with mandatory storage, with applications open from 30 March to 30 April 2026. The Czyste Powietrze programme links solar panels to mandatory heat‑source upgrades, offering variable subsidies based on household income. A third option is a tax‑deduction relief that reduces PIT liability for qualifying installations.

At the same time, the Polish Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has enforced penalties on owners who exceed the 50 kWp limit for micro‑installations. So far, 132 individuals have been fined a total of 129,800 zł, with each fine capped at 1,000 zł, to prevent overloads on the electricity grid.

Both measures aim to encourage proper solar adoption while protecting network stability.
