Poland expands speed‑camera network with new sites in Jawornik and Warsaw

A new speed‑camera unit was installed on national road 7 near Jawornik, Poland, to monitor traffic heading toward Myślenice and improve safety on one of the busiest sections of the Zakopianka route. The device records vehicles exceeding the 60 km/h limit and replaces a previously empty pole.

The installation is part of a nationwide programme to deploy 70 modern TraffiStar SR390 speed cameras across Poland by July 2026, financed by the EU’s KPO fund at a total cost of about 16.8 billion złoty. Warsaw’s municipal road authority announced its own plan for nine locations in the capital, replacing long‑standing empty poles and upgrading four aging cameras. The city will also introduce segment‑speed measurement in the Wisłostrada tunnel system, addressing chronic speeding that often exceeds 80 km/h.

The rollout aims to reduce accidents on high‑traffic corridors and bring Poland’s road‑monitoring infrastructure in line with EU standards.
