Poland: Rising concerns over Ukrainian situation impact sovereignty

According to data released by Statistics Poland (GUS) in August 2026, there is a growing perception of risk regarding the situation in Ukraine. Approximately 28.2% of respondents identified the current situation in Ukraine as a major threat to the sovereignty and independence of Poland, an increase from 22.8% in July.

Regarding the economy, 22.7% of respondents view the situation in Ukraine as a major threat to the Polish economy, while 42.6% perceive it as a moderate threat. Additionally, 7.6% of respondents consider the situation a major threat to their personal financial stability.

In terms of employment, 3% of respondents expressed definite concern about losing their jobs or ceasing their business activities, while 6% indicated a possibility of job loss or business closure. Over half of the working population (52.8%) reported having no concerns regarding the impact of the situation in Ukraine on their employment.
