Poland: Financial instability threatens biological treatment continuity

Concerns are rising regarding the impact of hospital financial instability on patient care in Poland. There is a growing call to ensure that the continuity of biological treatments for chronic conditions does not depend on a hospital's liquidity or the National Health Fund's (NFZ) budget status.

Biological therapies are critical for patients managing conditions such as plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, atopic dermatitis, and alopecia areata. For these individuals, regular treatment is essential to maintain physical function and quality of life. Experts argue that systemic financial issues, including NFZ deficits and hospital debt, should not lead to the arbitrary interruption or delay of clinically justified biological therapies.
