Poland funds rare cancer treatments for patients Edward Karpicz and Konrad

Edward Karpicz, a 63‑year‑old former customs officer from Słupsk, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive malignant tumor. Complications during laparoscopy caused a gastric perforation and peritonitis, and he now also suffers a pulmonary embolism, preventing the start of necessary chemotherapy. His treatment will be carried out in specialized oncology centers in Warsaw, incurring high medical and living expenses for both him and his wife, who is also recovering from breast‑cancer surgery.

Konrad, a husband and father, was diagnosed early this year with rhabdomyosarcoma, a very rare soft‑tissue sarcoma that has already spread to his lungs, lymph nodes, bones and bone marrow. Conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy have been ineffective, and doctors recommend immunotherapy and molecular diagnostics, which are beyond his family’s financial means. A crowdfunding campaign on Pomagam.pl seeks donations to cover these costs.

Both campaigns appeal for public contributions to help cover expensive treatments, travel, accommodation and supportive care for the families.
