Poland heating season start date depends on weather and managers
In Poland, there is no fixed official date for the start of the heating season. According to regulations from the Ministry of Economy, the heating season is defined as the period when atmospheric conditions necessitate the continuous supply of heat to warm buildings.
Decisions regarding the activation of heating in residential buildings are made by building managers, housing cooperatives, or community associations. While there is no statutory date, an informal practice often involves activating heating when outdoor temperatures remain below 10–12 degrees Celsius for several consecutive days.
Regulations do mandate minimum indoor temperature standards: at least 20 degrees Celsius in living rooms and kitchens, and 24 degrees Celsius in bathrooms. If these standards are not met, residents can report the issue to their building administration. Residents may also request earlier heating activation, which may require gathering a specific number of tenant signatures.
