Poland highlights diverse architecture from modern barns to Moorish palaces

Poland features diverse architectural landmarks ranging from modern award-winning residences to historic Moorish-style palaces.

BXB Studio, led by architect Bogusław Barnaś, designed ‘Polska Zagroda,’ a highly decorated single-family home. The project consists of five separate structures inspired by traditional Polish rural farmsteads. Rather than a single monumental building, the design utilizes five interconnected ‘barns’ that adapt to the landscape, sunlight, and existing greenery, covering over 500 square meters.

In southern Poland, the Osiek Palace offers a distinct historical contrast. Originally a 17th-century defensive manor, it underwent significant reconstruction before 1840 under the direction of Italian architect Francesco Maria Lanci. The palace is notable for its rare Moorish style, featuring onion-shaped domes and intricate oriental decorations, reflecting the historical interest in Eastern cultures among European elites.
