Polish architectural and cultural heritage developments

Poland has seen various developments regarding its architectural heritage and modern design. In late August 2026, the 4th edition of the Wooden Architecture Days took place across eight voivodeships, showcasing diverse wooden structures such as temples, villas, and mills to connect communities with conservationists.

Concurrently, preparations were made for a national scientific conference at the Potocki Palace in Radzyń Podlaski to explore the intellectual and material history of the Potocki family.

By early September 2026, focus shifted toward contemporary urban and residential projects. In Olsztyn, a new Ferris wheel provided by ARBET Investment Group was installed near the city center, scheduled to operate throughout September. Residential design trends also highlighted functional 50-square-meter apartment layouts utilizing natural materials like light oak.

Award-winning residential projects continued to draw attention. A project in Podkowa Leśna by Mak studio received the SARP award for the best house in Poland, employing a ‘box in box’ concept with prefabricated cross-laminated timber to preserve an existing brick building. Additionally, BXB Studio, led by Bogusław Barnaś, designed ‘Polska Zagroda,’ a project consisting of five interconnected ‘barns’ inspired by traditional Polish rural farmsteads.

Historical landmarks provided a contrast to these modern developments. In southern Poland, the Osiek Palace remains notable for its rare Moorish style, featuring onion-shaped domes and oriental decorations following reconstructions directed by Italian architect Francesco Maria Lanci.
