Poland hosts conference on defense funds and dual-use technology
A conference titled ‘European Funds for Defense’ was held at the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Office to discuss the role of private business in national security and the development of dual-use technologies. Organized by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy and the Special Economic Zone (SSE) Starachowice, the event focused on how the state supports entrepreneurs interested in defense-related cooperation.
Michał Godowski, President of SSE Starachowice, noted that the debate serves to present the scope of government subsidies. The SSE Starachowice also offers support, including tax exemptions of up to 70 percent of incurred expenditures. The event included networking opportunities with representatives from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the National Centre for Research and Development, BGK Bank, and the Industrial Development Agency.
Sergiusz Parszowski, President of the Security Observatory think tank, stated that such meetings help increase the number of companies actively involved in the arms market and dual-use technology. He noted that while many regional companies offer technological or service-based value, entering these sectors requires navigating new regulations, reporting obligations, and information security requirements.
