Poland hosts initiatives on non-violence and child protection
Discussions regarding the prevention of violence and the promotion of non-violent communication are taking place through various educational and community initiatives in Poland.
At the European Center for Communication and Culture in Warsaw, Father Mieczysław Łusiak SJ addressed the roots of violence in families, schools, and religious communities. He defined violence as any communication stemming from fear, shame, or perceived threats rather than love. Łusiak specifically noted that religious coercion and using fear of punishment to enforce faith can alienate younger generations, arguing that a mature relationship with God requires freedom and love rather than forced obedience.
In a separate initiative, the Tuchola County Family Assistance Center announced the XII Interdisciplinary Conference, ‘We see, we react, we prevent,’ scheduled for October 15–16, 2026, in Fojutów. Held as part of the national ‘Childhood Without Violence’ campaign, the conference features experts from the University of Kazimierz Wielki and the Bydgoszcz Provincial Police. The program includes workshops on aggression replacement training, solution-focused therapy for victims, and legal protocols for protecting minors and assessing risk in child removal cases.
