Poland reforms oncology care with eDiLO and lung cancer updates

Poland is implementing significant reforms to its oncology care system, focusing on digitalization and improved lung cancer treatment protocols.

A new electronic oncology card, eDiLO, is being introduced to streamline patient data and diagnostic paths. The rollout begins on August 11, 2026, starting with selected SOLO III monitoring centers, with a broader implementation across the National Oncology Network scheduled for October 1, 2026.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Health is restructuring the B. 6 drug program for lung cancer. Effective October 1, the program will move toward a modular structure to simplify patient qualification and allow for therapies to be administered at earlier stages of the disease, including perioperative care. A new feature called ‘therapeutic holidays’ will allow patients to undergo observation after two years of immunotherapy, with the option to return to innovative treatment if the disease progresses. Additionally, a low-dose CT scan program for high-risk groups will be introduced to improve early detection.
