Poland indicts 20-year-old for planning ISIS-linked terrorist attack

An indictment has been filed against 20-year-old Mateusz W. in the Koszalin District Court for planning a mass terrorist attack. According to the National Prosecutor's Office, the suspect allegedly intended to cause multiple deaths and severe injuries using explosives.

Investigations revealed that the suspect, a former first-year student at the Catholic University of Lublin, sought instructions for manufacturing explosive devices, attempted to recruit others for a terrorist organization, and looked for logistical and operational support. The prosecution stated these actions were intended to further the goals of ISIS and intimidate individuals with opposing views.

The suspect was arrested on November 30, 2025, by the Internal Security Agency in Lublin. During searches in the Łódź and Lublin regions, authorities seized data storage devices and items related to Islam as evidence.
