Poland industrial production grows 5.1% in July
Poland's industrial production grew by 5.1% year-on-year in July, according to data from GUS. While this represents a broad recovery across various sectors, monthly production saw a 1.8% decline, a trend often attributed to seasonal summer holidays.
Key growth drivers include the defense industry, which saw a 31.5% year-on-year increase, and mining, which rose by 18.5% due to increased extraction of metals and other raw materials. Other expanding sectors include computers and electronics (+21%), machinery (+17.3%), and electrical devices (+14.1%). Conversely, sectors reliant on consumer demand, such as furniture, chemicals, and tobacco, remain weak.
Producer prices (PPI) have also risen, accelerating to 1.9% year-on-year in July from 1.2% in June. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 2.8%. This upward pressure is linked to the conclusion of the CPN program, the return to full VAT rates on fuel as of July 1, and rising oil prices.
