Poland and Croatia report rising inflation rates in August 2026

Inflation in Poland rose to 3.4% year-on-year in August 2026, exceeding market expectations of 3.1%. The month-on-month increase was 0.4%. This rise was primarily driven by a 24.2% surge in private transport fuel prices and a 4.1% increase in energy costs. Conversely, food and non-alcoholic beverage prices saw a year-on-year decrease of 0.9%. Additionally, Poland's GDP grew by 3.9% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026.

In Croatia, the annual inflation rate reached 4.1% in August 2026, up from 3.9% in July. This increase was largely attributed to a 17.4% rise in energy prices and a 7.2% increase in services. Food, drink, and tobacco prices remained relatively stable with a 0.1% increase. Croatian officials expect inflation to converge with the Eurozone average by the first quarter of 2027.
