Poland intercepts Ukrainian agricultural shipments over safety concerns
Polish authorities have intercepted several shipments of agricultural products from Ukraine due to regulatory violations. In a recent RASFF notification, frozen raspberries were found to contain residues of carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl, two fungicides that have been banned for use in plant protection within the European Union since 2014 and 2021, respectively.
This follows a previous incident where a shipment of fresh apples from Ukraine was stopped at the Polish border after testing revealed residues of spiromesifen and carbendazim. Additionally, a batch of flax seeds from Ukraine was prohibited from entering the market after inspectors discovered live pests within the shipment.
In all reported cases, the goods were prevented from entering the market and were either returned to the sender or subject to trade bans by the Chief Inspectorate of Agricultural and Food Quality.
