Poland introduces mandatory SENT reporting for clothing and footwear and expands municipal textile collection
From 2026 the Polish SENT (Electronic Transport Supervision System) will cover clothing and footwear. Companies moving these goods must register shipments that exceed 10 kg for apparel (CN 61‑62) or more than 20 pairs of shoes (CN 64). The reporting obligation falls on the sender for outbound transport and on the receiver for inbound shipments, with carriers also required to transmit data. The change aims to curb VAT fraud and increase transparency in the apparel and shoe sectors.
New waste‑collection rules also require municipalities to treat textiles as a separate waste stream from 1 January 2025. Many towns, such as Konstancin‑Jeziorna, Kielce and Gliwice, are adopting purple bags or curb‑side pickups to replace trips to PSZOK facilities. In Sosnowiec, a door‑to‑door service launched by STALA Group lets residents request collection by phone, receive labelled bags from the city office, and have the items collected within seven working days. The initiatives are intended to simplify segregation, boost recycling rates and reduce household inconvenience.
Both the SENT expansion and the municipal collection reforms affect manufacturers, importers, exporters and residents across Poland.
