Poland introduces ‘Prescription for Movement’ health initiative

Poland is developing a new public health initiative titled ‘Recepta na Ruch’ (Prescription for Movement) as part of the 2040 Sports Development Strategy. The project aims to address the health and economic challenges caused by physical inactivity and sedentary lifestyles.

Under this system, primary care physicians (POZ) would assess a patient's activity levels and health status during visits. If activity is insufficient, the doctor can issue a ‘Prescription for Movement,’ which specifies the required form, frequency, and intensity of physical activity, as well as any contraindications. The initiative seeks to integrate physical movement into preventive care and treatment alongside traditional pharmacotherapy and rehabilitation.
