Poland investigates Starlink ground station fire as suspected Russian sabotage

Polish authorities are investigating a fire at a Starlink ground station in Wola Krobowska as a potential act of sabotage. The incident, which occurred on September 23, damaged a distribution cabinet and a power generator, causing internet connectivity disruptions for several organizations, including the Ukrainian military.

Przemysław Nowak, a spokesperson for the Polish National Prosecutor’s Office, stated there is ‘reasonable suspicion’ that the perpetrators acted on behalf of Russian intelligence services. The suspected goal was to disrupt Starlink network operations in Poland and other countries across Central and Eastern Europe. While CCTV footage has confirmed the fire was arson, no formal charges have been filed at this time.

The event has heightened concerns regarding Russian hybrid attacks against Poland and NATO infrastructure. Polish officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, have noted the incident aligns with warnings of intensifying sabotage efforts against critical communications networks in the region.
