On September 23, 2026, a fire occurred at a Starlink satellite communication base station in Wola Krobowska, central Poland. The facility, operated by the state-owned company Exatel, sustained damage to its antennas, a power generator, and a distribution cabinet. The incident caused internet connectivity disruptions for various institutions, including the Ukrainian military.

Polish authorities, including the Internal Security Agency and the Central Bureau of Investigation, launched investigations into the incident. Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski indicated the fire appeared to be a deliberate act of sabotage designed to disable the station, suggesting it aligns with a ‘new Russian doctrine’ of hybrid warfare.

By September 26, the Polish National Prosecutor’s Office reported ‘reasonable suspicion’ that the perpetrators acted on behalf of Russian intelligence services. The suspected objective was to disrupt Starlink network operations across Poland and other parts of Central and Eastern Europe. While CCTV footage confirmed the fire was arson, no formal charges have been filed.
