Poland launches 400 million PLN biogas support program
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) has announced the first call for applications under its program for high-efficiency cogeneration from biogas produced from biomass and municipal waste. The program has a budget of 400 million PLN, sourced from the Modernization Fund.
Entrepreneurs can apply for support to build new, expand, or modernize existing biomass fermentation installations. To qualify, the investment must achieve a minimum combined electrical and thermal power of at least 1 MW. Financial support is available in the form of grants covering up to 40 percent of eligible costs and loans covering up to 100 percent of eligible costs.
The initiative aims to strengthen Poland's energy security by reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and imported fuels. Additionally, the program targets environmental goals, including the recycling of at least 320,000 Mg of waste per year. The application period is scheduled to run from August 31 to November 30, 2026.
