Poland launches “Childhood Without Violence” social campaign

The “Childhood Without Violence” social campaign has launched in Poland, aiming to raise awareness about the prevalence of violence against children and promote non-violent upbringing methods.

Organized by the Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę and the Krajowa Koalicja na rzecz Dzieci, the initiative involves nearly 9,000 different institutions and non-governmental organizations. The campaign also sees participation from the Catholic Church through the Office of the Delegate of the KEP for the Protection of Children and Youth.

Statistics indicate that in Poland, over 30 percent of children experience violence from adults, while 87 percent experience peer violence. In the Lublin region alone, police initiate approximately 5,000 Blue Card procedures annually related to domestic violence, a figure that shows an upward trend, potentially due to increased reporting and awareness.

Experts emphasize that while physical bruises may heal, psychological violence—such as constant criticism, shouting, and ignoring—causes lasting damage to a child's mental health. The campaign seeks to shift societal attitudes away from traditional disciplinary methods like physical punishment and toward conscious, supportive parenting.
