Poland launches mobile waste stations to simplify textile recycling

In Pawłowice, a textile collection drive gathered clothing and other fabrics from residents. More than half of the material was in good condition and will be sorted by a recycling firm for reuse, while the remainder will be processed into industrial cleaning agents and alternative fuels, reducing landfill waste.

Bydgoszcz introduced a network of mobile selective waste collection points (m‑PSZOK) that travel to 29 neighbourhood locations on Thursdays and Saturdays. Residents can drop off used clothing, textiles, small household waste, medical sharps, batteries, small electronic devices, car tyres and other specified items without having to travel to a permanent PSZOK. The service is free, but users must present identification and proof of waste‑fee payment.

Both initiatives aim to make textile disposal easier for citizens and increase the amount of material that is reclaimed or repurposed.
