Poland's summer road safety drive spotlights fatal accident map

Polish authorities have launched a summer road‑safety campaign that combines a daily‑updated police map of fatal traffic collisions with a Radio Bielsko programme on road safety. The map, now in its eighth edition, displays each recent fatal crash across the country, including location, number of victims and type of road user, and warns that "each point is a human tragedy".

Official statistics show a gradual improvement: in 2025 Poland recorded 20,925 road accidents with 1,660 deaths and about 24,600 injuries, a 2.8% drop in accidents and a 12.4% fall in fatalities compared with the previous year. In the Silesian region, July alone saw 180 accidents and 19 deaths, while the Bielsk area reported 11 accidents with two fatalities in the first seven months of 2025. The campaign urges drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to observe speed limits, avoid alcohol, take breaks, and wear seatbelts, emphasizing that careful behaviour can prevent further loss of life.
