Poland maintains mandatory RTV license fee and registration
In Poland, owners of radio and television receivers remain legally obligated to register their devices and pay the RTV license fee unless they qualify for a statutory exemption. Registration must be completed within 14 days of acquiring a device, with formalities handled through Poczta Polska.
For households, a single fee covers all receivers used by members of the same household, including those in owned vehicles. However, for businesses and institutions, the number of devices used directly impacts the total amount due.
Starting January 1, 2026, the monthly rates are set at 9.50 PLN for radio-only use and 30.50 PLN for television or combined radio and television use. Payments are generally due by the 25th of each month, though a 10% discount is available for annual payments made by January 25.
Failure to register devices can result in significant penalties. Authorized employees of Poczta Polska conduct inspections, and unregistered devices may incur a fine equivalent to 30 times the monthly rate, which amounts to 915 PLN for a television in 2026. Unpaid debts may be pursued through enforcement proceedings.
