Poland detects unidentified object, crater found near Tarnawa‑Kolonia FAST-MOVING

At about 03:40 a.m. on 30 July 2026, Polish radar systems detected an unidentified object moving westward over the Lublin region near the village of Tarnawa‑Kolonia. An F‑16 fighter was scrambled, but the object vanished from radar six minutes later. A Mi‑24 helicopter later located a probable impact site about two kilometres from the nearest buildings, where a roughly 10‑metre‑wide crater and scattered debris were found. No casualties were reported.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk convened a coordination team and said the object was likely a Russian Kh‑101 cruise missile. Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz described the night as “very difficult for our air‑defence.” Ukrainian experts offered to assist Polish authorities with the investigation, while officials warned of possible disinformation. The investigation into the object's nature remains ongoing.
