Poland marks 82nd anniversary of WWII resistance operations
Poland commemorated the 82nd anniversary of Operation Most III on 26 July in Wał‑Ruda and Zabawie. The ceremony featured a memorial service, speeches, a salute, flower‑laying and a historic picnic with reenactments. Exhibits of authentic V‑2 rocket parts and a Dakota aircraft were displayed in a nearby hangar, with plans to assemble a full‑scale V‑2 replica.
The following day, Sandomierz hosted the eighth “Memory of Sandomierz Kolumbów” meeting at the Castle Museum, linked to the 82nd anniversary of the Battle of Pielaszow (30 July 1944). Lectures by Dr Robert Piwko and Dr Danuta Paszkowska highlighted the role of Home Army messengers and medical staff. A ceremony at the Pielaszowian mound in the cathedral cemetery honored the fallen, nearly 70 AK soldiers and medics who died in that fierce clash during Operation Burza.
