Military Recruitment Center in Opole faces system failure and leadership departures
A significant incident has emerged at the Military Recruitment Center (WCR) in Opole, Poland, involving a failure of the classified “Spirala” database system and the sudden resignation of key officers. Reports indicate that the server failure led to the irreversible loss of digital records concerning reservists, service candidates, and Territorial Defense Force soldiers, forcing personnel to manually reconstruct documentation from paper files.
Allegations against the leadership include document falsification, mobbing, and ignoring cybersecurity warnings. Specifically, it is claimed that no backups had been performed since October 2025 and that individuals previously discharged from military service maintained active administrative access to the system. Following these developments, Colonel Arkady Smoliński and Colonel Rafał Wojciechowski submitted resignations.
The Ministry of National Defence (MON) has issued a statement labeled “Stop disinformation” to address these reports. While the Ministry does not deny that a technical failure occurred, it disputes the connection between the incident and the officers' departures. The Ministry maintains that the failure was purely technical, did not result from personnel negligence, and did not impact the center's ability to perform its statutory tasks.
