Poland earmarks billions for roads, rail and student housing projects

Local authorities in Poland have approved a series of infrastructure investments. In Świdnica, nearly 3 million zł are allocated to build a new bike path linking the Osiedle Młodych district with the city centre, with completion slated for mid‑October 2026. In Poznań, the construction firm Pekabex will deliver a modern prefabricated student dormitory featuring two wings, green patios and extensive communal facilities.

The national road network will be upgraded with a 13.4‑km bypass for Brzostek and Kołaczyce on DK73, awarded to Budimex at a cost of about 439 million zł, intended to improve traffic flow and serve as part of a flood‑protection system. Koleje Śląskie will build a new technical base in Gliwice’s Bojkowo district, costing over 150 million zł and expected to create around 150 jobs. Additional road works include a tender for the renovation of Korfantego Street in Racibórz and a project to replace a busy intersection with a roundabout in Świdnica, valued at roughly 18 million zł.
