Poland: MP Robert Dowhan criticizes mandatory RTV license fee

Robert Dowhan, a Member of Parliament from the Civic Coalition (KO), has issued an interpellation to the Ministry of Culture criticizing the mandatory RTV license fee. Dowhan questioned why the issue remains unresolved, noting that Prime Minister Donald Tusk had previously criticized the obligation.

The lawmaker argued that the current system is outdated, specifically questioning why citizens are forced to pay simply for having a radio in a car or a television in a home, especially when many consume media via internet applications. He characterized the fee as a form of coercion and questioned the necessity of a national collection to fund public broadcasting.
