Poland mushroom season begins with high yields in several regions

The mushroom foraging season has begun in several regions of Poland, with reports of significant yields in the Wielkopolska, Pomerania, and Mazovia provinces. In Wielkopolska, foragers have reported finding large quantities of porcini, bay boletes, and chanterelles, including one instance where a single person collected approximately 5 kg of young porcini.

In the Pomeranian region, specifically near Bytów, substantial numbers of bay boletes, slippery jacks, and porcini have been documented. Mazovia has also seen successful harvests, particularly in more humid forest areas, with chanterelles being a prominent find. Conversely, harvests in Małopolska have been reported as significantly smaller.

Social media has also highlighted exceptional finds, including videos of unusually large mushroom specimens. While much of the country faces hydrological drought, these localized outbreaks suggest that favorable conditions are emerging. The peak season typically occurs from the second half of September through October, heavily dependent on rainfall and warm temperatures.
