Poland nears major grain and agricultural trade deals with Egypt
Poland is nearing the finalization of major agricultural trade agreements with Egypt. Negotiations have reportedly reached terms regarding prices, volumes, and commercial conditions for the export of hundreds of thousands of tons of Polish grain. This deal, expected to be signed next week, could serve as the foundation for long-term cooperation involving millions of tons in the future.
To optimize logistics, a secondary contract is being arranged for the import of up to 100,000 tons of urea from Egypt to Poland. Utilizing ships that deliver grain to Egypt to return with fertilizer would significantly reduce transport costs. These diplomatic and commercial efforts have involved the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and the Polish Embassy in Cairo.
In the fruit sector, the Polish apple market is facing challenges. Exporters note that demand for certain varieties is low or highly specific. For the Egyptian market, there is interest in striped Gala apples, but at low price points. While large-caliber Golden apples are sought, the Polish Red Cap variety is struggling to compete with Turkish imports in Egypt, though it remains a point of interest for Indian buyers.
