Poland offers free ‘wGotowości’ defense training for citizens

The Polish Ministry of National Defence is conducting the ‘wGotowości’ (In Readiness) defense training program, which is available to both individuals and organized groups. The free, eight-hour training sessions are led by Territorial Defence Forces units across the country and will continue through the end of November.

Participants must be at least 13 years old. The program is designed for various groups, including companies, government offices, associations, foundations, and students with guardians. The training does not involve taking a military oath and does not result in becoming a soldier.

The curriculum is divided into four key areas:

• Security: Preparing homes and families for natural disasters, crises, or armed conflicts, including evacuation planning and alarm response. • Medicine: Practical skills in emergency medical response, resuscitation, and wound care. • Survival: Basic navigation, recognizing warning signs, water purification, fire making, and shelter construction. • Cyber Hygiene: Protecting digital data, recognizing disinformation, and defending against phishing and malware.
