Poland offers specialized training for caregivers and disability support professionals
Various educational initiatives in Poland are providing specialized training for caregivers and professionals working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
In Szczecin, free practical training sessions are being held in a demonstration apartment designed to mimic home environments. Led by experienced nursing staff, these sessions teach essential skills such as safe patient transfer, pressure sore prevention, first aid, and communication with individuals with cognitive impairments. The facility utilizes specialized equipment, including geriatric phantoms, transfer lifts, and simulators for vision impairment and aging.
Additionally, the Avalon Foundation is hosting an online training session focused on the sexuality of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Led by health educator Marta Marysia Skrobacka, the program aims to provide tools for discussing boundaries, consent, privacy, and sexual health. The training is designed for staff in special schools, care homes, and therapeutic facilities, as well as specialists supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
