Poland opens final S6 expressway segment, linking Szczecin to the Tricity

Poland completed the last 4.4‑km stretch of the S6 expressway between Lębork and Słupsk, creating an uninterrupted 400‑km corridor that connects Szczecin with the Tricity (Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot). Prime Minister Donald Tusk highlighted the route’s role in linking European ports from Riga to Lübeck, its strategic importance for national security, and its high construction standards, noting it surpasses many Western European motorways. The road has been officially named “Trasa Kaszubska” and is part of the Via Hanseatica corridor.

Separately, work began on a new 4.4‑km bypass segment of the S10 near Szczecin. The construction, slated for July, will close inner lanes and redirect traffic, affecting three local sites and altering bus line 72. The project includes two new road junctions, a bridge over the Pónoć river, and animal‑crossing structures, aiming to divert transit away from the city centre and improve traffic flow.

Both projects are funded under a rapidly expanding road‑building budget, with the Ministry of Infrastructure’s annual allocation exceeding 100 billion PLN, reflecting Poland’s broader push to modernise its transport network.
