Poland outlines economic strategy focusing on AI, space, and defense
The conference ‘Kierunek Przyszłość – strategiczne inwestycje a rozwój gospodarczy Polski’ was held at the Sejm to discuss strategic investments and Poland's economic development. Organized by Koalicja Obywatelska, the event featured discussions on future technologies, energy transformation, and new financing instruments like the SAFE program.
During the event, Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański highlighted Poland's economic growth, noting the transition from a cost-based advantage to one driven by productivity and technology. He identified artificial intelligence as a transformative force comparable to the internet, noting that Poland is hosting two of Europe's nineteen AI factories and is competing for a European AI gigafactory.
Other key focus areas include the space industry, with Poland doubling its contribution to the European Space Agency to benefit domestic industry. Additionally, the Minister emphasized the link between security and economic growth, noting that high defense spending—aiming for 200 billion PLN annually—serves as a driver for industrial innovation and orders.
