Poland: Petition proposes new calculation for 800 plus benefits

A petition has been submitted to the Sejm proposing a fundamental change to the calculation of the ‘800 plus’ child benefit program in Poland. Instead of a fixed monthly amount per child, the petition suggests a formula that links the benefit to the average national gross salary and the number of children in a family. Under this proposal, the amount per child would increase as the number of children in the household grows, using a mathematical formula involving a square or cube root of the number of children.

Separately, information regarding the ‘Active Parents at Work’ program highlights that eligible parents can receive 1,500 PLN monthly for children aged 12 to 35 months if they are professionally active and the child is not in daycare or preschool. This benefit can be combined with the existing 800 plus program, potentially totaling 2,300 PLN per month per child. For children with disabilities, the monthly amount under this specific program increases to 1,900 PLN.
