Poland Plans 2027 Military Qualification for 245,000 Persons

Poland's Ministry of National Defence will conduct the 2027 military qualification from 1 February to 30 April, with the formal announcement scheduled for 15 January. The procedure is expected to involve about 245 000 individuals.

The largest group will be men born in 2008, who will appear before the medical commissions for the first time. Men born between 2003 and 2007 who have not yet been classified, as well as persons previously deemed temporarily unfit whose health restrictions end before the deadline, will also be summoned. Women born between 2000 and 2008 who hold qualifications useful to the armed forces – such as medical, veterinary, maritime, aviation or similar studies – are also subject to the qualification.

The Ministry plans to operate roughly 392 county medical commissions, each capable of issuing up to 35 decisions per day. The overall cost is estimated at 59.3 million PLN, funded by regional defence budgets. Participation is voluntary for any adult citizen, and calls may reach individuals up to age 60 who have not regularised their military status. The qualification does not constitute automatic conscription; it serves to update the military registry, while compulsory service remains suspended since 2008.
