Agricultural markets face yield shifts and price volatility in Europe

Agricultural sectors across Poland, Ukraine, and Austria are facing significant shifts in production and pricing. In Poland, corn harvests are expected to be strong due to favorable weather, potentially matching record yields. However, potato production is projected to drop by 15.4% according to GUS estimates, though some regional surpluses may lower prices for farmers.

In Ukraine, the berry market is seeing record-high raspberry prices due to limited supply, which has boosted export opportunities to the EU. Conversely, the Ukrainian dairy industry is struggling; small family farms are disappearing as they face high production costs and the impacts of war, being replaced by larger industrial operations.

Austria is experiencing a severe downturn in potato production, with yields expected to fall by over 42% compared to the previous year due to summer droughts. Additionally, rising energy and feed costs are driving up dairy prices, with experts warning that butter price increases may continue.
