Poland prepares for 2026/2027 heating season safety requirements

Preparations are underway for the 2026/2027 heating season in Poland, involving new safety regulations and technical procedures for building managers and residents.

The National Chamber of Chimney Sweeps has emphasized the mandatory use of the electronic protocol (e-protocol) for chimney inspections. This digital tool, integrated with the Central Register of Buildings' Energy Consumption (CEEB), is the only accepted method for confirming inspections. Additionally, following regulations that took effect in December 2024, there is a requirement to install autonomous smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to prevent soot fires and poisoning.

Regarding heating system activation, residents and managers must report the start or end of the heating season to service providers like Veolia. This process requires written or electronic notification, including preferred dates and contract details, to allow technicians to access heat nodes and open main valves. Proper maintenance, such as checking water levels, pressure, and valve functionality, is recommended prior to activation.
