Poland property owners warned over roadside grass maintenance
Property owners in Poland are cautioned that the land located between a fence and a road is not always part of their private property. While many treat the grass in front of their homes as an extension of their gardens, this area may actually fall within a public roadway strip.
If the land is part of a roadway strip, the responsibility for maintaining greenery, including planting or removing trees and shrubs, lies with the road manager. Unauthorized actions on such land can lead to significant penalties, potentially amounting to ten times the applicable fee.
To avoid legal issues, owners are advised to verify property boundaries using tools like Geoportal or cadastral maps. In cases of dispute, official documentation or geodetic surveys may be required to determine exact ownership and maintenance obligations.
