Poland proposes new technical regulations for residential buildings

A proposed reform of technical building regulations in Poland aims to replace standards that have been in place since 2002. The draft regulation, currently under development by the Ministry of Finance and Economy, covers the design, construction, reconstruction, and placement of buildings, as well as rules for the use of residential properties.

Key changes include enhanced acoustic protections to reduce noise transfer between apartments, improved accessibility for people with special needs, and updated fire safety and energy efficiency standards. For multi-family buildings with at least three floors, the project mandates the provision of accessible passenger or service elevators.

While the legislative schedule suggests a potential implementation date around September 20, 2026, this is not yet finalized. The project is still in the legislative process and has not been officially announced in the Journal of Laws. The final wording and transitional provisions will determine which ongoing investments must comply with the new requirements.
