Poland provides energy subsidies and discount cards for seniors

Seniors in Poland have access to various financial and social support programs designed to alleviate living costs. One such benefit is the energy lump sum, which provides monthly assistance to individuals who have faced past repression or have rendered special service to the country. Currently, this lump sum amounts to 336.16 PLN per month, totaling over 4,033 PLN annually. This amount is not dependent on income or actual electricity consumption and is distributed monthly by the Social Insurance Institution alongside standard pensions. Projections suggest a potential increase to approximately 347.86 PLN per month following an expected indexation in March.

Additionally, the National Senior Card offers discounts ranging from 5% to 30% at various partners, including sanatoriums, restaurants, and theaters. The program, organized by the MANKO Association, is available to anyone over the age of 60, regardless of employment status. In 390 municipalities participating in the ‘Senior-Friendly Municipality’ program, the card is issued free of charge. In areas not participating in this specific program, the card can be obtained through the MANKO Association for an annual fee of 35 PLN or 50 PLN for two years.
