Jedlanka railway incident: 12-year-old identified as cause of track obstruction

A dangerous incident occurred on the Dęblin–Łuków railway line in Jedlanka, where two freight trains traveling in opposite directions struck concrete blocks placed on the tracks. The impact damaged the locomotives' front cowcatchers, but no derailment occurred and no injuries were reported.

While the incident initially triggered investigations by the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBŚP) due to fears of sabotage, police have identified the perpetrator as a 12-year-old boy. The minor reportedly pushed concrete fragments from a former platform on a nearby embankment onto the tracks and placed stones on the rails. The blocks were remnants from the demolition of a nearby station.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the situation, noting that while authorities investigate whether such acts are sabotage or human error, initial reports do not suggest a professional operation. The case has been referred to the Family and Juvenile Court in Łuków.
