Poland transport sector sees major infrastructure and policy shifts

Poland's transport and railway sectors are undergoing significant changes and political debates. Przemysław Czarnek has criticized the current government for allegedly reducing the scale and funding of the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) project, claiming passenger capacity has dropped from 45 to 34 million and the railway network component has been reduced from 1,800 km to 480 km.

In regional developments, PKP S.A. has selected TEXOM S.A. to complete the construction of the Koszalin railway station for approximately 46 million PLN, following previous project delays. Meanwhile, PKP Intercity has exercised an option to purchase 32 additional Griffin 200 locomotives from Newag, a move valued at approximately 945.6 million PLN net, bringing the total contract value to 2.807 billion PLN net.

Other infrastructure updates include the planned construction of a new 20 million PLN air traffic control tower at Lublin Airport, expected to be operational by 2028. Additionally, PKP LHS is implementing in-house locomotive repairs to save millions, and construction continues on the S10 expressway between Bydgoszcz and Toruń.
