Poland raises RTV fees, tightens penalties for unregistered devices

Effective 1 January 2027 the monthly public broadcasting (RTV) fee in Poland will increase: radio from 9.50 zł to 10.80 zł and TV from 30.50 zł to 34.50 zł. The penalty for using an unregistered receiver is 30 times the monthly fee – currently 915 zł for a TV set and 285 zł for a radio – and will rise to 1 035 zł and 324 zł respectively in 2027.

The Ministry of Finance reminds owners that payments must be made by 25 July; missed deadlines start a collection process. Postal Service inspectors, authorized by the tax office, can issue a notice and, if payment is not made, the case is transferred to the tax authority, which may seize funds from bank accounts, salaries or pensions and enforce collection of arrears dating back up to five years, plus interest and administrative costs. The highest single enforcement amount recorded between January and May 2026 was 137 000 zł. Inspectors must show identification, but occupants are not obliged to admit them into premises, and refusal is not a misdemeanor.
